Your temperomandibular joint (TMJ) is the one that allows your jaw movements such as talking and chewing. Tightness of this joint may be caused by:
- Teeth grinding: if you wake with a headache or sore jaw you may be grinding your teeth in your sleep.
- Temperomandibular joint disorder: signs can include clicking noises and difficulty opening the jaw fully.
- An improper bite: this can create strain on the jaw.
"Your dentist can help you determine what’s causing your pain and work with you to implement a successful treatment plan to fix it."
