There are some early warning signs of a possible abscess to look out for:
- Red, swollen and sensitive gums
- Unusual tastes in the mouth
- In some cases a fever can develop and if any, or all, of these symptoms appear you should consult with your dentist as soon as possible. A severe abscess can result in having the tooth removed or root canal treatment, neither of which is something to smile about.
